“Places, everybody!” It had been almost three years since I heard a stage manager say in-person these two words before the curtain would open. While having performed virtually, nothing replaces having a live audience. I don’t even have the words to describe as to how much utter bliss it gave me to perform on stage in my senior showcase production at AMDA last week in, Tête-à-Tête. I feel beyond blessed that I was able to take the AMDA stage one last time with my peers before we all began our next chapter in our lives. Tête-à-Tête was a show that focused on the importance of human connection, letting your voice be heard, and the power of entertainment. One minute the audience would be laughing, next crying, and then in complete silence absorbing everything that they were experiencing. It was an honor and a privilege to be a part of this show.

As I stepped onto the stage, I felt the heat of the lights shine on me and felt at home. While I had multiple parts in this showcase and as I mentioned in my previous blog article in one of my scenes I had the opportunity to play the role of Gwendolen, a role I have wanted to play for so long, alongside Joshua White as Earnest/Jack in Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest. So, without further ado, if you would like to view the scene, here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=100QvIS2xCg

One of my other scenes was portraying the role of Toria with Joshua Taylor, in the role of Justin from Dominique Morisseau’s, Blood at the Root. I would like to thank Joshua for letting me be a part of this scene.

Thank you to my Director, Olivia Stambouliah, Stage Manager, Brianna Mann-Hernandez, fellow performers, and all of my instructors at AMDA for helping me to reach this point in my journey. I enjoyed sharing the stage with the cast of Tête-à-Tête and hope to work with you all in the future. Now, on to Act 2!
